North American markets surged ahead Tuesday, continuing to build on momentum from record-highs seen last week and little scheduled on the economic docket in Canada and the U.S.The S&P/TSX composite index jumped 59.88 points to 12,589.43. The Canadian dollar weakened by 0.48 of a cent to 98.43 cents US.The Dow Jones industrials index was up 68.72 points to 15,160.40, the Nasdaq saw an uptick of 21.48 points to 3,460.27 while the S&P 500 was ahead 12.02 points to 1,638.89.“Markets globally in general are on the rise,” said Gareth Watson, vice-president of the investment management group at Richardson GMP Ltd.“The flow of money in the equity market has not come to a halt and we haven’t necessarily had any necessarily negative headlines that… would likely pull these markets back from an economic standpoint. These are not huge gains… but I think it’s a continuing momentum from the rise we’ve had for the past number of weeks now.”The U.S. markets climbed despite a speech from Charles Plosser, president of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Philadelphia regional bank, suggesting that the Fed should “seriously look at tapering off asset purchases” now that the U.S. economy was showing signs of improvement.Waton said this may be due to investors weighing how seriously they should take these comments, considering that Plosser isn’t a voting member on the interest-rate setting committee of the Fed, and is known to be hawkish in his views. The Fed has been buying US$85 billion a month in Treasurys and mortgage bonds to try to keep long-term borrowing rates down, a move known as quantitative easing. In economic news, the U.S. Labor Department reported that prices paid by its importers fell in April for the second straight month, pushed lower by another decline in imported petroleum. Falling import prices help keep inflation in check. The Labor Department says import prices fell 0.5 per cent last month compared with March, when prices had fallen 0.2 per cent. It was the largest decline since a 0.6 per cent drop in December. Imported petroleum products fell 1.9 per cent in April. Excluding petroleum, import costs fell only 0.1 per cent. Import prices have fallen 2.6 per cent over the 12 months ending in April. With little in the way of other economic news set for release in Canada and the U.S., the markets will have a chance to pause and evaluate whether the recent highs seen on Wall Street have been an overstatement of the recent improvement in the U.S. economy.BlackBerry (TSX:BB) chief executive Thorsten Heins announced at the company’s annual conference in Florida that it will launch another smartphone with a physical keyboard this summer and make its BBM messenger service available to Android and iPhones by the end of the year. Its shares were down 0.81 per cent, or 13 cents, to $15.91.Canada’s largest home improvement retailer Rona Inc. (TSX:RON) saw its shares drop nearly three per cent, or 31 cents, to $10.32 after it reported that its first-quarter loss was larger compared to the same time last year. Overall revenue were down slightly, slipping by $4.6 million to $929.4 million.Meanwhile, Tim Hortons shares were up 0.77 per cent, or 43 cents, to $56.08 as the coffee chain announced it was buying back more than a million of its common shares from an unidentified seller by the end of this month. The cost of the Tim Hortons stock buyback wasn’t disclosed by the company. But its shares closed Monday at $55.65 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, putting the pricetag for a maximum purchase at about $70 million. It is common for companies to use some of their earnings to repurchase and cancel some publicly traded stock — a move that tends to support earnings per share because overall profits are spread over fewer shares. In commodities, the June crude contract dipped nine cents to US$95.08 a barrel. June gold bullion dropped 50 cents to US$1,433.80 an ounce, while July copper dipped seven cents to US$3.29 a pound.Overseas, world markets appeared to be softening. Germany’s DAX fell 0.1 per cent to 8,271 while the CAC-40 in France was 0.4 per cent lower at 3,931. Floyd Mayweather tweeted his 4.1 million followers Wednesday night, announcing his next fight: “I chose my opponent for September 14 and it’s Canelo Alvarez. I’m giving the fans what they want.”This is why Showtime Networks guaranteed Mayweather roughly $200 million earlier this year. After years of pining for Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to face off in the ring, Mayweather-Alvarez is the fight that fans want to see. It has the potential to be the second biggest non-heavyweight fight ever on pay-per-view and the biggest score yet for Mayweather in a career of eight-figure paydays.Alvarez (42-0-1) won a unanimous decision last month against Austin Trout that attracted 40,000 people to the Alamodome in San Antonio. He is a star in the making and the most popular Mexican fighter with a massive following. There were concerns that Alvarez was too big for Mayweather, but the two boxers agreed to fight at a “catchweight” of 152 pounds (Mayweather usually fights at 147 pounds). The event will take place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand where Mayweather has fought his last seven bouts. September 14 is during the Mexican Independence Day weekend, which is always a hot date on the boxing calendar along with the first week in May for Cinco de Mayo.Mayweather has been criticized for handpicking his opponents to pad his undefeated record, which reached 44-0 this month after he crushed Roberto Guerrero in a unanimous decision. The fight was the first for Mayweather after signing a six-fight deal with Showtime in February called the “richest individual athlete deal in all of sports” in a press release. The Guerrero fight was a disappointment at the box office after a lot of hype, including two Mayweather documentaries, an appearance at the Final Four by Mayweather, a reality series and heavy promotion on the CBS Sports Radio network. Five of Mayweather’s previous six fights on HBO had topped one million PPV buys.Showtime and others outside the network insist the Guerrero fight will narrowly beat the one million mark once everything is counted, while other boxing insiders told Forbes that the fight is likely to top out at 875,000 buys. Either figure has to be a disappointment.Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza told Forbes before the Guerrero fight that it was trending better than Mayweather’s Victor Ortiz fight in 2011 (1.25 million buys) and had an outside shot at topping the Miguel Cotto bout in 2012 (1.5 million).
The New York Times has weighed in on the steadily increasing rumors regarding the next version of the iPhone. The iPhone nano that we’ve been hearing so much about? That’s not happening, apparently.According to the paper, a cheaper version of the handset is coming–but not a smaller version. That revelation comes from the usual group of anonymous sources who were “briefed on Apple’s plans.”The next version of the phone will be the same size as previous versions–a smaller versions of the phone “would not necessarily be much cheaper to manufacture and because it would be more difficult to operate,” sayeth The Times.A smaller iPhone would also make using apps a pain, leading, perhaps to a sense of fragmentation amongst developers. Something that Apple has cautioned companies against, in the wake of Android’s success.
Arsenal defender Rob Holding has issued a message of support for teammate Danny Welbeck after his injury on Thursday.Welbeck left the pitch on a stretcher after just 26 minutes in Arsenal’s Europa League game against Sporting CP on Thursday night, and Holding has backed the former United forward to come back stronger.“I didn’t see it because obviously, I’m at the other end of the pitch so I didn’t see exactly what he’d done,” Holding told Arsenal website.Merson believes Arsenal should sign Sancho Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho might be the perfect player to play for the Gunners, according to former England international Paul Merson.“But Danny is a tough lad so if he’s on the floor, I know its something serious so he’s in the hospital now and we’ll see what happens.“He’s been so unlucky with injuries over the past few years but he’s a good character and got a good set of lads around him so we’ll lift him up and get him back as soon as we can. He can come back strong.”

Prime minister Sheikh HasinaPrime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday urged all including the members of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP to stay alert to check militancy, terrorism and drugs in the country alongside working together to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.“We’ll have to remain ever alert to prevent militancy, terrorism and drugs in the country,” she told the 39th National Rally of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) at its academy in Shafipur of Gazipur Tuesday morning. The premier also directed Bangladesh Ansar and VDP personnel to work together with hard work and honesty to keep up the country’s development spree.“As the biggest force of the country, you’ll have to work unitedly with hard work to continue advancement of our development … you will also have to discharge your duties with utmost honesty, courage and sincerity,” she said.Reminding the Ansar and VDP members that peaceful and stable environment is a precondition for the country’s overall development, the prime minister said they are an important partner for maintaining this atmosphere. On the occasion, the prime minister inspected a spectacular parade of smartly-turned out contingent of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP riding on an open jeep and took salute.Earlier on her arrival at the parade ground of the academy, the prime minister was received by home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, secretary of the public security division under the home ministry Mostafa Kamal Uddin, and director general of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP major general Kazi Sharif Kaikobad and the commandant of the academy.Ministers, the deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, advisers to the prime minister, parliament members, chiefs of the three services, diplomats and high civil and military officials were also present at the function.Highlighting her government’s various strides for development of the country and changing the lot of the people, the prime minister said her government has taken up the “Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar” programme so that rural people become economically solvent and no land remains fallow. She said this programme has been renamed as “Amar Bari Amar Khamar” asking the Ansar and VDP members to play a stronger role in this regard.“As you have training in this regard, you can play an important role in the project. I have already asked the authorities to involve you in it as you can achieve economic solvency through this,” she said.In this connection, the prime minister said her government has taken massive programmes for socioeconomic development of the country and improving the living standard of the people.“We’re implementing various social safety net programmes to eliminate poverty from the country,” she said.Urging all to work with utmost sincerity to retain Bangladesh’s achievements in different sectors, Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has graduated to a developing country from the least developed one because of various pragmatic initiatives of her government. “We want to develop Bangladesh further and for this, all will have to work with utmost sincerity,” she said.Praising the role of Ansar and VDP members in maintaining law and order in the country, the prime minister said they have been demonstrating their work skill and success during crises and emergencies of the nation.“You’re working with utmost sincerity in maintaining law and order in different national and social functions and religious festivals as well as checking militancy and narcotics,” she added.Sheikh Hasina mentioned that 55,000 male and female members of the force are performing their duties in different government and private establishments to save public property and ensure security. She said the Ansar and VDP members played an important role in holding the last general election in a peaceful manner. She also said 5.5 million Ansar members, risking their life, presented a free and fair election to the people of the country by guarding over 40,000 polling centres and ensuring security of the voters.“Five Ansar members died while performing their election duty and I pray for the eternal peace of their departed souls,” she said. The prime minister also recalled the role of the Ansar and VDP members in resisting the mayhem and violence of the BNP-Jamaat nexus from 2013 to 2015.“They played a special role in thwarting BNP-Jamaat’s ‘fire terrorism’, especially ensuring railway security. We were able to ensure security of life and property of the people due to their significant role,” she said.Elaborating her government’s initiatives for the development of the force, Sheikh Hasina said her government is always sincere and sympathetic in solving their problems.Earlier, Sheikh Hasina handed over Bangladesh Ansar awards, President’s Ansar awards, President’s VDP awards, Bangladesh Ansar Services awards, President’s Ansar Services awards, Bangladesh VDP Services awards and President’s VDP Services awards among Ansar and VDP members for their courageous role in maintaining law and order as well as their service-oriented activities.Sheikh Hasina later enjoyed a cultural programme performed by Ansar and VDP members and joined a “darbar” of Ansar officers and members.Speaking after the spectacular cultural programme at the picturesque Ansar and VDP Academy, the prime minister thanked the Ansar and VDP members and their children for presenting the beautiful cultural function. The prime minister pointed out her government’s initiatives for turning every village into a town. “Our aim is that the rural people will get all urban facilities … they will get developed life and will live beautifully,” she said.Sheikh Hasina said: “We want the future of today’s children to be brighter and more beautiful as well as technologically advanced.”The prime minister sought cooperation of all to build a more developed and prosperous Bangladesh. She said the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman liberated the country with a goal of establishing a hunger and poverty-free Sonar Bangla.“Our commitment is to materialise his dream. We have removed hunger and bring down the poverty rate significantly and the rate of poverty will have to be cut further. Bangladesh will have to be made more developed and prosperous and for this I seek cooperation of all,” she said. The prime minister said she has firm belief that the Ansar and VDP members could change every village.“Bangladesh is a beautiful country and all will have to work to build our motherland in such a way so that we can keep our heads high, not begging from others. We will establish ourselves by standing on our own feet and using our own resources,” she said. Sheikh Hasina became emotional when seeing two children dancing on a boat during the cultural function of the Ansar members at Ansar and VDP lake, saying that it brought back her childhood memories.“I remember my childhood whenever I see a boat. When I will retire, I will stay at my village. I will stay in Tungipara, my ancestral home,” she said.
A Baltimore man who has been convicted in the murder of his brother after setting him up for a robbery was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison this week, said prosecutors.Brandon Wilder, 29, was found guilty in July of fatally shooting his half-brother Ramon Wilder in May 2014. During his trial, it was said that Brandon Wilder was “less successful” than Roman in the drug selling business and Ramon often took women away from Brandon.Brandon Wilder, 29, was given life plus 30 years for killing his half-brother Ramon. (Baltimore Police Department)Brandon Wilder got his then girlfriend, Labria Paige, to lure Ramon Wilder to the 3400 block of Wilkens Ave in Southwest Baltimore, with the lie that she was leaving Brandon for him. When Ramon Wilder arrived, Brandon Wilder shot him several times with a revolver, police said.Ramon was left in a parking lot to die while Brandon and others unloaded items from Ramon’s vehicle which was then dumped at a hotel near BWI Airport, said police.Ramon Wilder’s death was part of a series of crimes police linked to Brandon Wilder and his friends. Three days before Ramon’s killing, police said, Brandon held up and carjacked an Oxycontin dealer at a shopping center, and two weeks later, he deliberately ran over a man in the Lakeland neighborhood.Three other people were convicted of participating in the murder; two agreed to testify for commuted sentences. Wilder’s defense questioned their stories saying that details changed often and they were trying to “receive favorable sentences.”Theodore Grice, 37, was sentenced to 25 years for his role in Ramon’s death. Grice was acquitted of participating in the murder, but convicted him of conspiracy and carjacking. Assistant State’s Attorney Sharon Ruth Holback stated in court that Grice had a “$1,000-a-day drug habit and a long criminal history.”“He has time and time associated himself with criminal activity-and here we are,” said Holback.Grice had checked the group into a hotel and gave them all fake ID’s.“I don’t know if I was a coward, or afraid to say no. I couldn’t say, “I’m not going to help you,” Grice said.According to his lawyer, Grice was stabbed 24 times in jail waiting for trial; an attack he says was set up by Brandon Wilder to keep Grice from testifying.Labria Paige, Brandon’s then-girlfriend, pleaded guilty to felony murder and received a 20-year sentence in exchange for her testimony.Brauna Diggs, pleaded guilty in the robbery, receiving two years in exchange for her testimony.Diggs was given a lesser sentence because she did not participate in planning the murder but was merely with Grice at the time of the shooting.“This insensible and vicious murder emphasizes the lack of moral ethics killers have when it comes to the value of human life,” State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said in a statement. “Anyone who can kill their brother in such a calculated and callous manner deserves to spend their life behind bars.”
By Micha Green, AFRO Washington, D.C. Editor, email@example.comCivil Rights activist, crisis management expert and AFRO board member Laura Murphy has come to the rescue of online organizations who need a healthy dose of #BlackGirlMagic to identify, resolve and help avoid issues of discrimination and bias.Labeled the “Olivia Pope of the Tech World” in jest, according to Black Press USA, Murphy has been the person called on to save organizations in trouble because of prejudice.Laura Murphy helped Airbnb fix discrimination issues and is now helping Facebook solve the site’s bias issues. (Courtesy Photo)When allegations surfaced about Airbnb having serious problems with discrimination and sparked the campaign #AirbnbWhileBlack, the home-sharing site called on Murphy to save them.First skeptical she was unsure if she could save Airbnb, but wrote on Black Press USA in 2016,“What initially persuaded me that change is possible at Airbnb was my first conversation with Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky. ‘Airbnb will never be able to fulfill its mission without seriously combating discrimination on its platform. We must solve this,’ he said. I knew that only with such determination and commitment from the CEO and others at the highest levels would real institutional change be possible,” Murphy wrote. Now Facebook is calling on Murphy to save them as well by leading a civil rights audit. The NAACP condemned Facebook for its data collection breach after it affected 87 million of it users, many of whom are African American.According to a March New York Times article the “National Fair Housing Alliance and affiliated groups in New York, San Antonio and Miami” sued Facebook in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan because they allege the social media site’s actions are a violation of the Fair Housing Act, which states that it’s illegal to solicit housing ads that indicate preference based on “race, color, gender, religion, handicaps, familial status or national origin.”The suit alleges that the site exploits its power.“Facebook’s ability to customize an online audience for advertisements based on its vast trove of user data has made it the biggest advertising agency in the world — the advertising platform of choice for millions of businesses,” the lawsuit states. “But Facebook has abused its enormous power.”With such allegations and scandals, Murphy is being asked to evaluate how Facebook can improve its anti-discrimination.Murphy said she wants to use her experience in fixing Airbnb as well as her previous work, like serving as the first woman to lead the 300,000 member American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) office in Washington, D.C., to help Facebook eliminate discrimination. With Airbnb, Murphy developed an “Open Doors” policy to help guests who report they experienced prejudice. As a daughter of civil rights leaders and the sister of Billy Murphy, who represented the family of Freddie Gray, when the 25-year-old fell into a coma and died due to a spinal injury while in police custody, the groundbreaking sheroe said saving the day is in her DNA.“It’s kind of in my DNA to make things right,” Murphy said according to Black Press USA.According to a Pew Research Center study, more Black adults (70 percent) use Facebook than their White counterparts (67 percent). Further, more Black adults (43 percent) use Instagram, owned by Facebook, than their White counterparts (32 percent). As a civil rights leader, Murphy sees the global impact of Facebook’s discrimination.“Facebook has an added responsibility, because of their size and reach, to ensure that the platform isn’t being used to discriminate; that it isn’t fomenting misinformation,” Murphy said. “Given that employers and real estate companies are involved, a key part of the audit will include looking at what the company can do to eliminate discrimination in housing.”
Stay on target A Tale of Two Wonder WomenSDCC Announcement: IDW Games Brings 90s Nick to Life On Saturday, July 22nd, Blade Runner 2049 had its spotlight panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Director Denis Villanueva, who earned his sci-fi cred with his Oscar nominated film Arrival, was joined on stage by Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, and Jared Leto … well, sort of. He appeared as a hologram to introduce the panel. Jared Leto plays antagonist Neader Wallace in the upcoming film.Shortly after the panel started, they revealed a timeline of events that took place between when the original film took place in 2019 and when the new one takes place in 2049. The dates are as follows:2023 – Replicant prohibition takes effect.2025 – Wallace Corporation helps solve the world food shortage.2030 – Wallace helps legislation repealing replicant prohibition.2049 – 30 years after Deckard and Rachel escaped, Los Angeles has changed dramatically. Humans who can’t afford to get to Off-World Colonies are left behind. Society is divided into two classes; replicants and humans.Since the original Blade Runner had a scrolling opening it’s very likely, we’ll be seeing all of this in the opening of Blade Runner 2049. Additionally, other than Harrison Ford reprising his role as Deckard, we’ll be seeing Edward James Olmos back as Gaff. Other familiar faces to Comic Con fans include Dave Bautista who quickly became a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan favorite in the role of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy, and Robin Wright whose profile has recently shot up once again after audiences saw her performance as Antiope in Wonder Woman.Unfortunately, no new footage was on hand for the panel. That’s largely due to the second trailer dropping less than a week ago. That trailer went well beyond what we’ve previously seen and should win over even the most skeptical fans. All of our questions will be answered on October 6th when Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters. It’s too bad we don’t know more, but then again who does?Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
Bacardi NH7 Weekender, labelled India’s happiest festival, returns with an epic lineup across four cities. Bacardi and Only Much Louder bring you the fourth edition of the festival featuring more than 200 bands across six stages. All set to take over the Capital on 30 Nov and 1 Dec, we talk to musician Dhruv Visvanath who will be a part of the madness…When and how did you first become interested in/begin playing music?I began my musical journey at the age of 7 playing the piano. My mother told me that women fawn over pianists, seemed like a silly reason then, but ever since that year I looked at music for what it really was. Just a melting pot of words that never existed, bursting with beauty. I shifted to the guitar on the 21 Dec 2004. Haven’t looked back since! Also Read – ‘Playing Jojo was emotionally exhausting’How do you connect your music with the audiences? The thing is, I have a habit of writing music for myself or writing music that tells stories. I think more than anything, I like to let people connect by letting them attach their own stories to songs, especially my instrumental pieces. I really want people to think of their own stories when they listen to my music because I really want to make feel like they played a hand in making the song what it is. Also Read – Leslie doing new comedy special with NetflixWhat can we expect from your set at NH7 Weekender in Delhi? Any special plans?Well the Delhi edition will be particularly special. I played there last year and I’m eager to make my performance more lively and interactive. I’ll be playing some newer songs at the show, as well as mixing it up with a few favourites! As for anything special, well I only end up thinking of stuff like that on the day itself! Might end up surprising myself as well as the audience! What is your take on NH7 Weekender shaping music in India? As a festival, it doesn’t quite necessarily shape it. I feel it more or less epitomizes it, which shows the ideal existence of music in this country. Musicians work all year round making music, performing, and spreading happiness to a lot of people and the Bacardi NH7 Weekender has become a beacon to look forward to as the year comes to a close. I think it shows the power of being independent, and the power of the audience to influence that instance of change that is needed in the music scene.Which other Indian musicians/bands do you like to listen to?I’m a huge fan of bands like Skyharbor, Indus Creed and Jester. I listen to them almost religiously, along with bands like Swarathma, Adil & Vasundhara, Slain, The Raghu Dixit Project, Them Clones and Goddess Gagged. It really boils my blood that these bands aren’t famous across the globe! There are times where I shut myself off from the world and only listen to what India has to offer, and let me tell you I feel so happy to know such musicians!Tell us about your future plans in music.I’m currently working with a larger project, focusing on a different area of my songwriting, it’s called DVT. I’ve been writing songs with the band for over a year and with practice the songs keep getting better. Hopefully by the first quarter of the next year, I’ll be working towards an album that incorporates all that I have to offer as a songwriter. I’m also working on a series of guitar duets with some of the finest guitarists of this country, creating songs in the space of an hour and recording them straight away. Some of the ideas that come by are fantastic. And finally a lot of performances throughout the country! I can’t wait!
Derrick Hall satisfied with D-backs’ buying and selling Good. Let him walk right into the Cards’ Tempe facility. When presented with this information, ESPN.com insider Mike Sando said, “I think Albert may get a little overpaid. But when you’ve been where Arizona’s been at left tackle, I think I could justify overpaying for above average. I think that’s what you’re getting with him and why Kansas City isn’t expected to re-sign him.”Branden Albert is by no means perfect. He’ll be very expensive. He has missed quite a bit of time the last couple of seasons due to injury. Surely there are reasons why Kansas City is letting him go in the first place, so you have to be wary of that. But……It would address a need for the Cardinals that seemingly dates back to the beginning of recorded football history and in some ways would be like netting two players for the price of one.Signing Albert means drafting whomever you want at number 20. Nothing on draft day is worse than being held hostage by your own needs. Don’t get me wrong, I think Jonathan Cooper will turn out to be a fine player but realistically, the Cards had to take him. By ignoring offensive line in the draft for the better part of a half decade the Cardinals lost their freedom of choice; need dictated that selection. Top Stories Sign Albert and now you’re free to do what you want. Maybe the Cardinals enjoy that freedom anyway; Mike Mayock recently said on a conference call that the tackle position is so deep this year a team could find a starter in the second round. Beer lovers rejoice as this is an event to note down. Nicosia Municipal Gardens will be turned into a large beer tasting ground as the Full Pint Homebrew Festival makes its appearance for the 6th year. Cyprus Mail spoke to the festival team to get all of the inside scoop about how it all began and what to expect. It was a group of beer-loving friends who birthed the idea in 2014 to have a party and share for free their beer with the world. They went through all the processes of acquiring licences and permits to have the party at Faneromeni in the first year. An association and a Facebook page were created, and the party was named The Full Pint Homebrew Festival. Now, The Cyprus Homebrewers Association has grown in numbers and has 38 members going into the 6th festival.Four serving tents along with a serving tricycle will be set up with more than 20 participating homebrewers from all over Cyprus, providing more than 40 different beers. “Making beer at home takes time and dedication,” say the organisers. “The homebrewers participating in the festival are passionate about their beer and want to share their take on different beer styles. Some are experienced homebrewers making exceptional beer and others are in their early stages of homebrewing, still making better beer than most of what you could buy in the shops. Any homebrewer is welcome to participate as the association values the passion and effort of homebrewing.”There is always a big variety of beer styles, as the organisers explain, ranging from Lagers, Belgian Ales, IPA’s and Stouts to Saisons, ESB, NEIPA’s, Brut IPA and even a Smoked Rauchbier. All beers are handcrafted with their own twist and bring something unique. And it’s not just about beer. Food and music will be on site to satisfy hungry stomachs and itchy feet. Fork Food will be around with the usual burgers and hot dogs including vegetarian options, whilst the Windcraft Band and the Blues and Brews will perform. The event seems to be growing every year and the fact that it’s already sold out now just goes to show it. Beer variety in the first festival only included 4 participants, since then, the number of beers has increased reaching 51 different beers for this year. “The variety of beers has also increased bringing some new styles, and the quality keeps getting better and better”.For upcoming events or for details on how to register and join the association please visit the website www.homebrewers.com.cy or check out the Facebook page. The Full Pint Homebrew Festival 2019Festival with 4 serving tents and 20 participating homebrewers from all over Cyprus, providing more than 40 different beers.
